- NBC had pretty big numbers for the last night of the DNC, crushing both the broadcasters and the cable news options. The one-hour head start on ABC/CBS (it started at 9:00 while ABC/CBS started at 10:00) probably helped in a big way.
- Though America's Got Talent had an ugly result for a special Thursday 8:00 original, most other broadcast options rallied from last Thursday's NFL preseason-muddled results. Perhaps the evening's biggest loser was another show taking a rare turn on Thursday: MTV's Video Music Awards (2.8). Though that number topped the evening, it was down by a staggering 55% from the year-ago 6.2!!! I guess awards shows should stick to Sundays...
