First Two Weeks, 666 Park Avenue

WEEK ONE
ABC's 666 Park Avenue wasn't completely dead on arrival, but it was as close as could've been expected. On a night when two sophomore dramas had strong, above-3.0 nights for ABC, 666 Park led out with just a 2.1 demo. It only managed a tie with The Mentalist, which had a 1.4-point lead-in disadvantage.

WEEK TWO
And week two didn't bring any more promise, as 666 Park dropped 19% to a 1.7, though it actually held off an overrun-plagued The Mentalist for top drama option in the 10:00 hour. The only consolation for the show was that its lead-in Revenge was also down 19% in week two (from 3.2 to 2.6). But 666 Park remained at only about two-thirds of that show's demo numbers.

PROGNOSIS
I thought Terry O'Quinn and Vanessa Williams playing roles that seemed rather in their wheelhouses would create a little more initial interest. This show is not a megabomb, but it seems pretty clear it's not going to be around for the long term. It's already behind the upper-1's pace that got GCB cancelled in this slot about six months ago, and ABC has several midseason drama options. Cancel.

"First Two Weeks" is my look at... the first two weeks of a new scripted broadcast show's ratings. I also line up all of the premiere and week two drop numbers together.

I’ve really enjoyed
watching O’Quinn and Williams so far. The only problem that I have so far is
that the supporting cast is really lacking. Maybe it’s just the skill gap, but
that department needs some help. A few coworkers at DISH hope that we at least
have a full season 1. I discovered 666, along with a few other new favorites of
mine, with my Hopper’s PrimeTime Anytime feature. It’s great for discovering
new shows, or if you tend to forget to set timers every TV season. The big 4
channels have really produced some solid TV, and my vote is to not cancel 666 just
yet.

What is up with this Hopper guy? He has come here several times and also to my blog. The comments always have relevance, so are they automated or done by Hopper employees? With that said, I wish that I had the Hopper!
