Midseason Matchups 2012, Tuesday

Bold indicates a timeslot change; ALL CAPS indicates a new show

8/7c

Winter Broadcast: Last Man Standing/WORK IT (ABC, 1/3) vs. NCIS (CBS) vs. The Biggest Loser (NBC) vs. Glee (Fox) vs. 90210 (CW)

Spring Broadcast: Last Man Standing/Work It (ABC) vs. NCIS (CBS) vs. The Biggest Loser (NBC) vs. New Girl (R)/Breaking In (Fox, 3/6) vs. 90210 (CW)

Cable: Switched At Birth (ABC Family, 1/3)

Projected A18-49 winner: NCIS (CBS)

Notes: There is some sense that Work It will not be feeling like a woman all season for ABC, but no replacement has been announced.

9/8c

Winter Broadcast: Celebrity Wife Swap (ABC, 1/3), The River (ABC, 2/7) vs. NCIS: Los Angeles (CBS) vs. The Biggest Loser (NBC) vs. New Girl/Raising Hope (Fox) vs. Ringer (CW)

Spring Broadcast: Dancing with the Stars results (ABC, 3/27) vs. NCIS: Los Angeles (CBS) vs. The Biggest Loser (NBC) vs. New Girl/Raising Hope (Fox) vs. Ringer (CW)

Cable: JANE BY DESIGN (ABC Family, 1/3), The Real Housewives of Orange County (Bravo)

Projected A18-49 winner: NCIS: Los Angeles (CBS) (New Girl could be the top show, but the LA average across the full hour should be tops)

Notes: I have some expectation that NBC will put The Voice results in this hour at some point, but that's not announced thus far. ABC's 8 to 10 lineup in January will be one of the most critically-reviled in recent memory. I'm not a major Last Man Standing hater, but I can honestly say I didn't expect it'd ever be in position to be (perhaps by far?) the least-hated show in a two-hour block.

10/9c

Winter Broadcast: Body of Proof (ABC) vs. Unforgettable (CBS) vs. Parenthood (NBC)

Spring Broadcast: Body of Proof (ABC) vs. Unforgettable (CBS) vs. FASHION STAR (NBC, 3/6)

Cable: Storage Wars (A&E), The Game/Let's Stay Together (BET, 1/10), Tosh.0/KEY & PEELE (Comedy Central, 1/31), Justified (FX, 1/17), Teen Mom 2 (MTV), Southland (TNT, 1/17), White Collar (USA, 1/17)

Projected A18-49 winner: Unforgettable (CBS), but several other shows could be very close

Notes: Broadcast fills this hour with some relatively underwhelming offerings, but cable more than makes up for it with, once again, an absolutely stuffed slate of offerings. (And the list above is far from comprehensive.) Particularly interesting will be January 17, when FX, TNT and USA all premiere dramas on the same night. As is the case at 8:30, there's some expectation that ABC will put something else here late in the season, but it's not yet announced.
