Rating the Ratings: I always said I would reserve the "A+" grade for something truly freaky. I wasn't sure anything would ever meet that standard considering shows are generally "in-pattern" by the time they get to War of 18-49 update age. This seems as close as we'll ever get. The final run of Breaking Bad episodes began with a 2.9 demo, which was nearly double the rating for any previous rating of the show. After a settling around 2.5 for a little while, the series hit a new high in each of its final three episodes, including a monstrous 5.3 finale on the first Sunday of the 2013-14 season that still towers over any broadcast drama episode aired this season to date. In other words, Breaking Bad went from "hit for cable" to "hit for broadcast" to "megahit by any standard" this summer, and it was just a summer removed from being a relatively low-rated cable show. Grade: A+.

Here's the now updated War of 18-49 post for Breaking Bad.
