The Question, Friday 3/29/13: Are Happy-for-Friday Ratings a Possibility?

Tonight, ABC begins the stretch run of its painful journey through a full season order of Happy Endings. Low-1 demos were the norm for the 11 episodes aired on Tuesday, and the random tryout in the Sunday 10/9c went even worse. So the expectations aren't high for Happy Endings in its toughest timeslot yet, the Friday 8/7c hour. But an unconventional "save Happy Endings" promotional campaign has brought a little more attention to this move. Are Happy-for-Friday ratings a possibility? That's The Question for Friday, March 29, 2013.

Happy Endings This Season Previous Occupants
1.8 (premiere, Tuesday 10/23/12)
1.27 (average)
1.0 -> 0.9 (Sunday 10/9c eps)
1.4 -> 1.3 -> 1.2/1.3 (last three Tue eps)
1.49 (Last Man Standing average)
1.5 -> 1.4 -> 1.6 (last three LMS eps)
1.39 (Malibu Country average)
1.3 -> 1.1 -> 1.4 (last three MC eps)

It's Easter weekend, it's Friday night, and Happy Endings hasn't aired in two months. Those things do not bode well for tonight. The only things in its favor are the promotion and the loyal fanbase. Maybe alerting those fans that the show is in trouble is "so crazy it just might work," but consider me skeptical. It could barely manage a 1.0 on Sunday after Revenge, so I'm going even a bit lower than that tonight.

Over/Under for 8:00 episode PLUS 8:30 episode: 1.75.

(If the finals end up being one number for the whole hour, assume it's 0.85.)
