Rating the Ratings: The improbable run of raw numbers growth may finally be over for The Big Bang Theory, but Big Bang still had yet another excellent season. It dropped much less than big four programming in general. And the growth was still there for much of the fall, especially for the 5.5/6.1 two-episode premiere. That 6.1 is TBBT's biggest episode ever in A18-49+. The raw growth was pretty much over by November, and several episodes starting in early 2014 were even down double-digits year-to-year. But the show flexed one last bit of muscle in its May 15 finale (4.9), which was actually up a tenth vs. last year's finale.

Usually a -4% year-to-year doesn't get an A-, but Big Bang is being compared with gigantic standards. Getting bigger in Plus vs. a season that was already easily the biggest sitcom since Friends is very impressive. For good measure, this Plus number also puts it just past the best broadcast drama season in the A18-49+ era (season one of Desperate Housewives). Grade: A-.

Here's the now updated War of 18-49 post for The Big Bang Theory.

If it had moved to the 9 o'clock hour we might have seen raw growth again. Still very impressive
