- As has been noted here every year, holiday viewing depressions are always harsher to younger-skewing shows and a smaller deal for older-skewing ones. The ever-solid CBS Wednesday lineup was down just 11% on Thanksgiving Eve, but Fox's all original Wednesday and Thursday were down in the vicinity of 30%. It's not that shocking for The X Factor and Glee, but it certainly doesn't help the narrative surrounding the struggling shows.
- NBC's new NFL Thanksgiving tradition was a lower-end matchup compared to the usual Sunday Night Football this season, and it was down 4% from the same game last year.
- Of some note is that CBS had the late afternoon NFL lead-in on Thanksgiving, which surely helped juice The Big Bang Theory a bit.

I thought a Modern Family rerun aired on Thanksgiving night for ABC.
Why Fox aired The X-Factor over Thanksgiving Eve and Day I don't know. And they could have banked the episode of Glee to have an original episode later in the season. Even though Fox designated those shows as "special" to not officially count with Nielsen's ranking, this was a bad move.
This goes into the category of having no idea what the hell networks are doing. I don't get why we all understand it was a bad move but FOX didn't. It is beyond me.
I am starting to believe the January episodes are a test to see what happens come mid-season. If the January posts high 2s in January, I don't think it's inconceivable that NBC sends it to Thursdays at 9 in the spring and use the Mondays at 10 slot for Crisis. An additional incentive for this would be the fact that the Blacklist will only have 9 episodes left to air (assuming standard 22 episode season) and the voice will have 13 Monday episodes to air weird because the blacklist will have 9 episodes left and the voice has 13 Monday episodes per season, meaning there is an effective waste of the lead-in of 4 episodes! 13 really is perfect for a 13 episode midseason entry to run through.
Sadly, I don't think it's happening. It's already planned to air after The Voice the day after The Olympics. However, that idea of moving Blacklist in the spring to Thursdays is interesting, as well as another good test; if it does well there, it will show that Blacklist could be able to bring back Thursdays, and be a strong anchor, especially since Sean and Michael are bombs now. Well-played omabin.
I'm guessing that the TBBT rerun will get smashed down in True if and when you can get numbers for the Raiders-Cowboys game? I wonder what the last scripted rerun to notch a 3.3 in the demo was.
I'm sure it'll at least do mid 2s and can then survive a move. Thursday? Hmm, they could cancel Sean and double-pump MJF (where they're lumbered with a 22-pack) until they're out of those, which would be soon enough to plug Blacklist there post-Olympics? (Checks.) Nine episodes of MJF aired so far, thirteen to go. One single and six doubles. They'd have to commit to it basically now, and I don't think they will.
I'd probably put Believe in the vacated Monday slot, it seems the sort of show that could be a fast starter and fast fader so if it's not good enough for the fall, may as well have it burn brighter before it burns out.
Fixed, thx.
Update on this front: the NFL postgame show got a 5.6, knocking TBBT (R) down to a 2.84 True.
BBT actually had four repeats at 3.3+ last season!
