War of 18-49 Update, Big Brother (Summer 2011)

Let's take a look at the summer 2011 season (the thirteenth overall) of Big Brother on CBS.

Summer 2011 Wednesday adults 18-49 low/average/high: 2.4/2.80/3.3
Summer 2011 Thursday adults 18-49 low/average/high: 2.3/2.67/3.1
Summer 2011 Sunday adults 18-49 low/average/high: 2.4/2.71/3.2

Rating the Ratings: I noted in the first edition of the Big Brother post this summer that the show had grown for two straight seasons. Well, make it three. The show had solid year-to-year growth on all three of its nights: +9% on Wednesday, +10% on Thursday and +10% on Sunday. This show is amazingly almost all the way back to the numbers it was posting in summer 2006 and 2007, right before the ill-fated regular season edition in 2008 caused some ratings damage. Like most Big Brother seasons, it picked up steam late in the season. It put up all five of its 3.0+ ratings in the second half of August, including a 3.3 on August 31 that marks the show's biggest performance since 2007. It sputtered a bit against big competition and Labor Day viewing hits in early September, but the overall growth was still pretty amazing. Grade: A-.

Here's the now updated War of 18-49 post for Big Brother.
