War of 18-49 Update, Survivor (Spring 2013)

Let's take a look at the spring 2013 season (the twenty-sixth overall) of Survivor on CBS.

Rating the Ratings: A Fans vs. Favorites season once again helped slow Survivor's bleeding. But it didn't exactly happen the way one might expect; instead of all those names from Survivor's past bringing in initial interest, the season began disastrously. The 2.4 premiere was down a whooping 23% from the previous spring's premiere, one of the show's largest premiere declines historically. But Survivor orchestrated quite a recovery in the post-premiere weeks. It didn't go below the premiere's 2.4 until the reunion show at the end of the season, and 11 of the 13 regular post-premiere episodes went above a 2.4. By the end, Survivor had made up more than half of that premiere night year-to-year deficit, and it was Survivor's first less-than-league-average decline since fall 2010. Grade: B.

Here's the now updated War of 18-49 post for Survivor.

Are you of the mindset that Survivor may end in 2015?

Is that a rumor or something? I don't see a ratings reason to predict anything that specific right now.

There are rumors among some fans that they will soon do a final all-winners season. We know that it will not be in 2013-14, but even Jeff Probst has addressed it (though not giving a year).

Really? That is somehow shocking to me, I don't see ratings that justify it. And show-wise, it still has a lot of juice left IMO.

It very well may not be 2015 (season 30), but Jeff Probst recently stated that he wanted to end like that. It must mean that the end is near. It may be:

Fall 2013: Blood vs. Water
Spring 2014: New Player Season / 2-3 Returners
Fall 2014: Some excuse to bring someone back
Spring 2015: "Hall-of-Fame" Season (incl. non-winners, such as Russell Hantz)
Fall 2015: New Players?
Spring 2016: All-Winners

The other option would be to have a ~40 player final season that would take the whole TV season in maybe 2015-16 or 2016-17.

I like the idea of an all-winners edition as well as an all second place/second chance season where players that finished as the runner-up try again.

If they did that, I would also include second runner ups from seasons where there was a Final Three. I just worry about logistical problems otherwise. First of all, Parvati and Boston Rob have also won. Even with all of that, I can only (barely) put together a 18-person cast. Yes, there would be more players to choose from in a few seasons. They would, ideally, have a cast like this:

Michael Skupin
Coach Wade
Phillip Sheppard
Sash Lenahan
Russell Hantz
Stephen Fischbach
Ozzy Lusth
Chase Rice
Dreamz
Dawn Meehan
Lisa Whelchel
Chelsea Meissner
Courtney Yates
Danielle DiLorenzo
Kelly Wiggelsworth
Sugar Kiper (begrudgingly)
Stephenie LaGrossa (though I doubt she would play again)
Natalie Tenerelli? (for eye candy)
