Rating the Ratings: Grey's Anatomy continued to age gracefully, dropping by less than the previous season's drop for the fifth straight year. (Though this year it was certainly an insignificant difference; -13.1% in 2011-12 vs. -13.0% this year.) It was a very hot show at the end of 2011-12, and it continued that into the opening weeks of this season, with a 4.4 premiere that outrated nearly every point from the previous season. But it dropped by at least four tenths in each of the next three weeks and ended up settling in the low 3's, usually down double digits from last year. By the finale, which was being compared against last season's very hot finish, it was -24%. I'm taking this season down a notch grade-wise from last season, because I put a premium on finishing the season well, and this season didn't finish as well as last season. It'll be a big challenge to continue its "drop less than the previous season" streak in 2013-14, but the continued pairing with hot Scandal may help it out. Grade: B-.

Here's the now updated War of 18-49 post for Grey's Anatomy.

But it didn't outrate the 4.5 from 1/5/12.
