Spotted Ratings, Memorial Weekend Roundup (5/25-5/27/12)

WHAT MATTERS:
  • Memorial Day weekend was about sports, reruns and burn-offs (including the return of How to Be a Gentleman, tying an all-time CBS demo low in its first airings in over seven months). The NBA's Western Conference Finals (3.4) on TNT easily beat the broadcasters on Sunday.
  • Overall viewing was a tad depressed on Friday and Saturday, but Sunday was the only evening that took a significant viewing hit due to the holiday; my estimates say about 30% of 18-49ers were using TV on Sunday night from 8:00 to 11:00 compared to about 37% the previous Sunday.

    Fox press release says:
NASCAR race itself had 2.2 A18-49 ; 7.6 mil total viewers.
    Sunday Fox primetime (till 10:36PM this time, not 10:00PM) : 2.2 A18-49 ; 7.4 mil total viewers.
But it could be that 2.2 was fast national, and 2.1 in your table to be correct final ratings.

Those weekly releases typically ARE based on finals, but I've seen the 2.1 in several different places. Both the TVBTN finals and their weekly top 25 from Nielsen http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2012/05/30/tv-ratings-broadcast-top-25-american-idol-tops-week-36-viewing-modern-family-is-number-one-scripted-program/136002/ say 2.1. I'm not sure where the mix-up is.
