Let's take a look at the 2014-15 season (the sixth overall) of Undercover Boss on CBS.

*- For this winter's War of 18-49 updates, the A18-49+ is based on a projected league average, calculated by applying the league average's current year-to-year trend (thru 3/1/15) to the final 2013-14 average. This should help make these numbers compare more fairly with seasons past.

Rating the Ratings: It's going to be a second straight positive season in A18-49+ for Undercover Boss. When the show returned to Friday in January, it didn't seem meaningfully stronger or weaker than in past seasons, but the average benefited from three Sunday episodes to begin the season (two of which came on national NFL overrun nights). Boss should end up with almost the same Plus as in 2011-12 (85), when it also began the season with three Sunday episodes.

Perhaps more interesting than anything Boss did was how much worse The Amazing Race performed when it had the Friday 8/7c timeslot in the fall. That may have improved the perception of the Boss somewhat, but realistically it was probably more of a negative for Race than a positive for Boss. Undercover Boss should come back, and unless Race gets some kind of huge upscale audience premium, Boss should be ahead of Race on the priority list. But since CBS struggles to squeeze out full seasons, it seems increasingly possible that both shows miss out on the fall sked to open up another hour for a drama. Grade: B-.

Here's the now updated War of 18-49 post for Undercover Boss.
