The Question, Sunday 11/17/13: Is the NFL an Almost Perfect Lead-in for Almost Human?

The slate of fall 2013 newbies rounds out on Sunday night with the post-NFL preview of Fox's sci-fi drama Almost Human. The thing here is that even with an absolutely correct gauge on the interest in the show, you could miss by quite a bit simply based on how long and how good the late-afternoon Packers/Giants game is. It could be a great game that ends right at 8:00 and pushes double digits, or there could be a full half-hour of post-game show The OT, which has averaged about a 5.0 this season (and surely much less by 7:59). Because I don't want to have a potential unfair disadvantage information-wise, I'm forcing it to be a crapshoot for everyone! So: THIS GAME CLOSES AT A SPECIAL TIME: 4:00 PM ET ON SUNDAY.

Over/Under: 3.35.

Personally I'm not interested in the promos at all. But with how well Sleepy Hollow started and the promo it's had plus the lead-in, OVER.

Over. FOX also has the Vikings/Seahawks and 49ers/Saints (which the entire South will see) at 4:30, so I think one of those three games will push well past 7:30. And there's enough crossover audience interest.

Never bet against the NFL. And, by extension, never bet against an NFL lead-out.

I imagine it should be Over.

Although I'm guessing that the West Coast won't have the direct lead into SH? Or is it airing coast-to-coast immediately after the NFL?

That would be an interesting experiment, though I'm not sure how many people would be in the mood for an android cop drama at 5pm. I think it's gotta be dark out at least.

I was so incredibly wrong yesterday that I should probably be a bit more cautious, but . . . nah.

I'm gonna give both the game pack and the show itself the benefit of the doubt, despite getting royally screwed last night. Over.

If only b/c it's the less popular option, Under.

Over at 4.2.

My TiVo lied to me. :-(

That 20-minute gap is not going to help, though I was impressed that the last 7 minutes of NO/SF were stretched from 7:07 to 7:39. FOX almost got lucky with overtime.

I missed this until now. Isn't the precedent to give a "half-win" for sports-related events (WS last year) entered after the fact?

Anyway, I will say over. If you want to give me a half-win if I am correct, great. If not, that is fine.

My email for your comment said 4:00 on the dot, so you're in!

Sorry, I'm not doing it that way anymore. Created too many spreadsheet complications given there are so few games that it involves. But I will try to put all the sports-related games up the day before. (I'm probably forgetting something, but I think the only two others that will fall under this banner are the Rake premiere on Jan. 19 and New Girl/BK-99 after the Super Bowl.)

I think the true should reflect the compatibility of the lead in. Though I watch both, I don't think there is a ton of crossover between a drama in the Marvel Universe and an '80s nostalgia sitcom
