Spotted Ratings, Wednesday 4/25/12

WHAT MATTERS:
  • The dull last day before May sweeps saw ABC's Apartment 23 drop more than a half point following a repeat of Modern Family in just its third episode on the air. I expected a 2.1 or 2.2, so this is a bit of a disappointment. But since it's still so early, I don't think it's something the show can't come back from. It looks basically equivalent to what Happy Endings did after repeats, maybe a tiny tad better. Revenge also took a noticeable dip, but again, I'll reserve any kind of larger judgment till after the whole lineup is back. I don't think either of these results are anything to crow about, but here's another take.
  • I guess I should mention that Rock Center was up 50%? No? Bueller?
  • The LA Complex did about the same (a little better in viewers) compared to the previous evening's premiere, which would suggest (along with the show's huge 8:30 drop) that the CW's local programming at 7:30 is doing much better. Remodeled did something similar in a Friday 8/7c test.

I did a quick survey of the top markets.

CW local programs at 7:30
16 Two and a Half Men
13 How I Met Your Mother
7 Big Bang Theory
5 Seinfeld, Family Guy
4 Simpsons, The Office
3 House of Payne, Judge Judy, other court shows
2 Family Feud, Friends, local news, Access Hollywood
1 America Now, 'Til Death (!), Meet the Browns, That '70s Show, Entertainment Tonight, King of the Hill, My Name Is Earl, TMZ, Dr Oz, Millionaire?

Wouldn't surprise me to see CBS sitcom reruns do better than CW's typical 0.5 rating.

Yeah, from what I've seen of CW 7:00 hour numbers, they're like 35-40% of what the big four averages in households. It's probably noticeably higher than that in 18-49 since the big four has all the Wheel/Jeopardy affiliates.

Really makes you wonder if the new shows would be better off at 8:00 than airing after a primetime program.
