The Question, Friday 4/5/13: Will the Vegas Friday Long Shot Pay Off?

Tonight, CBS sends its fall/winter Tuesday 10/9c occupant Vegas into the Friday mix. Perhaps the even worse news for the show over its month and a half off the air was CBS' slew of renewals last week, including for seeming bubblers like The Mentalist and The Good Wife. There are basically no slots left on the roster for returning shows now. Vegas needed a miracle before, but now it needs an even bigger one. Will the Vegas Friday long shot pay off? That's The Question for Tuesday, April 5, 2013.

Vegas This Season Previous Occupants
2.5 (premiere, Tuesday 9/25/12)
1.73 (average)
1.9 -> 1.5 -> 1.5 (last three eps)
1.41 (CSI: NY average)
1.6 -> 1.2 -> 1.2 (last three CSI:NY eps)
1.0 (Golden Boy tryout, 3/8/13)

The Golden Boy tryout got a 1.0, and while Golden Boy at that time might have looked a bit stronger than Vegas, I also think its audience was not as "settled in" after just two episodes as Vegas' probably is after 15 eps, so Vegas may be able to bring its audience over to Friday a bit better. Either way, it's not gonna be enough to make the show a contender.

Over/Under: 1.05.

Over, just because I see it doing a tick better than Golden Boy.

Slightly over I will say.

Slightly over, if only because there's a certain segment of the audience that will watch whatever CBS is airing on Fridays.

Under. I think the best it can do is the Golden Boy number from a few weeks ago.

...Over. A H5-0 rerun got 0.9 three weeks ago.

Vegas and Blue Bloods are probably the most compatible shows on CBS' schedule that don't have the initials NCIS. If Blue Bloods hasn't dipped this low yet this season, I don't think Vegas will either.

Over.

Vegas's old-by-CBS-procedural-standards audience will watch it on a Friday in almost the same levels as on a Tuesday. However, those people are out-of-demo. I will say that enough of the viewership is of people in their 40s (rather than 20s) that the Friday move will matter a little less.

Over: 1.2

If The Job can premiere to a 1.1 in the 8pm timeslot, I don't see any problem for Vegas to do at least that number. My guess is a 1.1-1.2, so OVER.
