22 Fall TV Matchups, Saturday 8/7c

Today, my fall preview looks at Saturday 8/7c. Saturdays have mostly been dead for good-faith original scripted programming for a while now, but the arrival of Rules of Engagement this fall could be interesting.

HISTORY
ABC
ABC will offer Saturday Night College Football on Saturdays in the fourth quarter as it has for quite awhile now.

CBS
CBS has gone with crime drama repeats (often labeled "Crimetime") for several years in this hour, but that changes this fall as they will have original episodes of Rules of Engagement at 8:00 followed by a "Comedytime" encore at 8:30.

NBC
NBC's also gone with drama repeats and burnoffs for several years now and will continue that this year.

FOX
COPS has been on the air for over two decades and is going nowhere anytime soon.  Most weeks it airs an original at 8pm and a repeat at 8:30, but typically the repeat actually outrates the original (8:30 built on 8:00 by a little under 0.2 on average). Because of this fact, COPS is one of the few shows for which I include repeats in my averages. It averaged a 1.53 demo across the 8pm hour during the 2010-11 regular season.

A18-49 AVERAGE PREDICTIONS
Saturday Night College Football - 1.89 (-4% from last year)
Rules of Engagement - 1.20 (-58%) - This prediction assumes it stays on Saturdays all year, but I don't necessarily think that's likely.
COPS - 1.38 (-10%)

WHAT I'M WATCHING
College football if there's a game I'm interested in. You?
