Spotted Ratings, Thursday 2/18/21

FINALS UPDATE: Celebrity Wheel of Fortune (0.9) and The Hustler (0.5) adjusted up.

WHAT MATTERS:
  • The CBS comedies (0.8/0.6/0.6/0.4) and week two of Clarice (0.4) mostly slid down from last week, when Clarice posted a very high 0.5 (0.54) in finals.
  • NBC began a mini-docuseries from the Dateline producers called The Widower (0.5), improving on recent regular Dateline eps in the slot, while Mr. Mayor (0.5) and Law and Order: SVU (0.7) matched their last originals.
  • The ABC game shows (0.8/0.6/0.4) along with the Fox (0.7/0.5/0.4) and CW (0.2/0.1) lineups looked pretty typical.

Spotted Ratings, Thursday 2/11/21

FINALS UPDATE: Celebrity Wheel of Fortune (0.8), The Hustler (0.5), Young Sheldon (0.9), B Positive (0.7) and Mr. Mayor (0.5) adjusted up.

WHAT MATTERS:
  • CBS premiered new drama Clarice (0.5) in the 10/9c hour, where it was actually ahead of the year-ago series premiere of Tommy (0.44). It was also a relatively nice night for the 9/8c comedy hour, with Mom (0.7) hitting a new season high and The Unicorn up to 0.5 for the first time since November. The night began with a steady Young Sheldon (0.8) and B Positive (0.6).
  • The ABC game shows returned with Celebrity Wheel of Fortune (0.7), The Chase (0.6) and The Hustler (0.4) all eyeing potential new series lows in the prelims. The same goes for NBC's Mr. Mayor (0.4) and the CW's Walker (0.2) and Legacies (0.1).
  • Fox's trio of Hell's Kitchen (0.7), Call Me Kat (0.5) and Last Man Standing (0.4) were all even.

FINALS UPDATE: The Chase (0.7), Mom (R) (0.4), Mr. Mayor (0.6) and Law and Order: SVU (R) (0.5) adjusted up.

WHAT MATTERS:
  • There was no week four rebound for the ABC game shows, as Celebrity Wheel of Fortune (0.8), The Chase (0.6) and The Hustler (0.5) were in line with last week's prelims (Chase actually down a notch).
  • Week two of Walker (0.3), like All American on Monday, dropped a tenth from its premiere.
  • As some shows went into repeats, most other big four originals were even including Fox's Hell's Kitchen (0.7), Call Me Kat (0.6) and Last Man Standing (0.4). The Unicorn fell to 0.3 airing after 90 minutes of repeats (0.5/0.4/0.3).

FINALS UPDATE: Celebrity Wheel of Fortune (0.9), B Positive (0.7), Law and Order: SVU (0.7) and Call Me Kat (0.6) adjusted up.

WHAT MATTERS:
  • The CW improbably picked up its second 0.4 of the week with the premiere of new drama Walker on Thursday. This may well be the biggest CW series premiere in Plus in over three years, since Black Lightning got a 0.8 after The Flash in early 2018. It got there on the back of a much older-skewing audience than the typical CW fare; its 2.431 million total viewers were the most on the network in almost three years. It led into the return of Legacies (0.2) at 9/8c.
  • On ABC, Celebrity Wheel of Fortune (0.8) took a hard crash against full competition in week three, and The Chase (0.7) and The Hustler (0.5) went down with it.
  • The CBS comedies returned with Young Sheldon (0.8), B Positive (0.6) and Mom (0.6) up a notch from their fall finales, while The Unicorn (0.4) stayed low at 9:30.
  • NBC (0.5/0.4/0.6/0.3) and Fox (0.7/0.5/0.4) were both even to narrowly down.

Spotted Ratings, Thursday 11/12/20

FINALS UPDATE: Station 19 (1.2) and Thursday Night Football (3.5, +1.4) adjusted up.

WHAT MATTERS:
  • ABC had a strong return from its Thursday drama staples Station 19 (1.1) and two hours of Grey's Anatomy (1.4/1.2). Both shows were off only a bit from their COVID-fueled heights from the spring, and above their pre-COVID winter levels. Grey's averaged a 1.1 in A18-34 in the 9/8c hour, tying last season's high.
  • On CBS, there was some consolation as Young Sheldon (0.8) ticked up from last week's premiere, but things quickly dropped from there. Newbie B Positive (0.5) declined even as its lead-in was up, and sophomore The Unicorn (0.4) had a slow start at 9:30, following a steady Mom (0.6).
  • Following an original (0.5) and repeat (0.3) of Superstore, NBC brought back Law and Order: SVU (0.6) at 9/8c, which came in toward the low end of its ratings in the 10/9c hour last year.

FINALS UPDATE: Station 19 (1.1) adjusted up while Deputy (0.5) adjusted down.

WHAT MATTERS:
  • CBS comedy newbies The Unicorn (0.7) and Carol's Second Act (0.7) both finished their seasons on an uptick, getting help from their respective lead-ins Young Sheldon (1.1) and Mom (0.8). It was Sheldon's highest rating in 2020. Tommy posted another 0.5 at 10/9c.
  • On ABC, Grey's Anatomy (1.2) was down a notch from last week's big episode, while Station 19 (1.0) and A Million Little Things (0.6) were even.
  • Fox's Deupty (0.6) upticked while its lead-in comedies Last Man Standing (0.6) and Outmatched (0.5) stayed even. NBC had another night with Brooklyn Nine-Nine (0.6), Will and Grace (0.5) and Indebted (0.4) surrounded by repeats. And the CW's Legacies (0.2) was back from a month off.
