Spotted Ratings, Thursday 5/6/21

FINALS UPDATE: Station 19 (0.8) and Young Sheldon (0.6) adjusted up.

WHAT MATTERS:
  • ABC's Station 19 (0.7), Grey's Anatomy (0.9) and Rebel (0.5) returned even or slightly up, dominating the night as CBS got a horrible showing from Young Sheldon (0.5) at 8/7c, but was actually up with Mom (0.6) and B Positive (0.5) later in the night.
  • NBC's Manifest (0.5/0.5) aired two more hours, likely to top last week's 0.5's which adjusted up from 0.4 in the prelims. The CW's Walker (0.1) and Legacies (0.1) returned from a few weeks off, with the former posting its first preliminary 0.1.

FINALS UPDATE: Manifest (0.5) and Manifest (0.5) adjusted up.

WHAT MATTERS:
  • Numbers posted. ABC covered Round 1 of the NFL Draft (also aired on ESPN/NFL Network). Fox brought back puppet sketch show Let's Be Real for a regular run at 9:30, following its first appearance as a one-off special in October.

FINALS UPDATE: Grey's Anatomy (0.9), Young Sheldon (0.7), United States of Al (0.6) and Law and Order: SVU (0.8) adjusted up.

WHAT MATTERS:
  • Hell's Kitchen (0.8) ended a strong season by tying its season high in the prelims, and it helped Last Man Standing (0.5) do the same at 9/8c.
  • The other networks were a mix of even to slightly down, with ABC's Grey's Anatomy (0.8) and Rebel (0.4) each inching down from last week's prelims and Law and Order: SVU (0.7) declining back to around its pre-crossover highs. The CW aired documentary 2040 (0.1).

Spotted Ratings, Thursday 4/8/21

FINALS UPDATE: Station 19 (0.8) and B Positive (0.5) adjusted up.

WHAT MATTERS:
  • ABC's new drama Rebel (0.5) had a fairly quiet start in the 10/9c hour, looking no better than most of the A Million Little Things episodes in this slot all season. A Station 19 (0.7) and Grey's Anatomy (0.9) crossover in the preceding hours was pretty similar to last week.
  • NBC saw a big fall for week two of the Law and Order: SVU (0.9) and Law and Order: Organized Crime (0.8) pairing, though SVU remained way ahead of its season high from before last Thursday. Manifest (0.5) was also on the downturn in the 8/7c hour.
  • CBS perhaps benefited from the weaker NBC and was mostly a bit up from last week's prelims with Young Sheldon (0.7), week two of United States of Al (0.6), Mom (0.6), B Positive (0.4) and Clarice (0.3). Last Man Standing (0.4) returned at 9/8c to lead into The Moodys (0.3), and the CW's Walker (0.2) and Legacies (0.1) were back from a break.

Spotted Ratings, Thursday 3/25/21

FINALS UPDATE: Station 19 (0.8) and Superstore (0.6) adjusted up while Mom (R) (0.3) adjusted down.

WHAT MATTERS:
  • NBC's Superstore ended its six-season run with a pair of 0.5's in the 8:00 hour, matching last week's finals (but up from last week's prelims).
  • The ABC dramas (0.7/0.9/0.5) all matched last week's prelims (Station 19 and Grey's Anatomy later adjusted up). Fox's Hell's Kitchen (0.8) stayed strong but Call Me Kat (0.5) and Last Man Standing (0.4) were both down a notch.

Spotted Ratings, Thursday 3/11/21

FINALS UPDATE: Grey's Anatomy (0.9) and Clarice (0.4) adjusted up while Last Man Standing (0.4) adjusted down.

WHAT MATTERS:
  • A presidential address in the 8:00 half-hour bumped the start of primetime on the East Coast and could cause larger adjustments in the finals. ABC had the return of Station 19 (0.8/0.9), Grey's Anatomy (0.9/0.7) and A Million Little Things (0.4), the latter two of which would be at new lows if current results hold.
  • CBS aired Young Sheldon (0.7), B Positive (0.6) and Mom (0.5) into a potential new low for week five of Clarice (0.3). NBC started Superstore (0.3) at 8:30, and Fox timeshifted its lineup of Hell's Kitchen (0.6/0.5), Call Me Kat (0.4) and Last Man Standing (0.5).
  • As the only entertainment option at the start of the night, the CW's Walker was preliminarily back up to 0.3 for the first time in three episodes.

Spotted Ratings, Thursday 2/18/21

FINALS UPDATE: Celebrity Wheel of Fortune (0.9) and The Hustler (0.5) adjusted up.

WHAT MATTERS:
  • The CBS comedies (0.8/0.6/0.6/0.4) and week two of Clarice (0.4) mostly slid down from last week, when Clarice posted a very high 0.5 (0.54) in finals.
  • NBC began a mini-docuseries from the Dateline producers called The Widower (0.5), improving on recent regular Dateline eps in the slot, while Mr. Mayor (0.5) and Law and Order: SVU (0.7) matched their last originals.
  • The ABC game shows (0.8/0.6/0.4) along with the Fox (0.7/0.5/0.4) and CW (0.2/0.1) lineups looked pretty typical.

Spotted Ratings, Thursday 2/11/21

FINALS UPDATE: Celebrity Wheel of Fortune (0.8), The Hustler (0.5), Young Sheldon (0.9), B Positive (0.7) and Mr. Mayor (0.5) adjusted up.

WHAT MATTERS:
  • CBS premiered new drama Clarice (0.5) in the 10/9c hour, where it was actually ahead of the year-ago series premiere of Tommy (0.44). It was also a relatively nice night for the 9/8c comedy hour, with Mom (0.7) hitting a new season high and The Unicorn up to 0.5 for the first time since November. The night began with a steady Young Sheldon (0.8) and B Positive (0.6).
  • The ABC game shows returned with Celebrity Wheel of Fortune (0.7), The Chase (0.6) and The Hustler (0.4) all eyeing potential new series lows in the prelims. The same goes for NBC's Mr. Mayor (0.4) and the CW's Walker (0.2) and Legacies (0.1).
  • Fox's trio of Hell's Kitchen (0.7), Call Me Kat (0.5) and Last Man Standing (0.4) were all even.

Spotted Ratings, Thursday 1/28/21

FINALS UPDATE: The Chase (0.7), Mom (R) (0.4), Mr. Mayor (0.6) and Law and Order: SVU (R) (0.5) adjusted up.

WHAT MATTERS:
  • There was no week four rebound for the ABC game shows, as Celebrity Wheel of Fortune (0.8), The Chase (0.6) and The Hustler (0.5) were in line with last week's prelims (Chase actually down a notch).
  • Week two of Walker (0.3), like All American on Monday, dropped a tenth from its premiere.
  • As some shows went into repeats, most other big four originals were even including Fox's Hell's Kitchen (0.7), Call Me Kat (0.6) and Last Man Standing (0.4). The Unicorn fell to 0.3 airing after 90 minutes of repeats (0.5/0.4/0.3).

FINALS UPDATE: Celebrity Wheel of Fortune (0.9), B Positive (0.7), Law and Order: SVU (0.7) and Call Me Kat (0.6) adjusted up.

WHAT MATTERS:
  • The CW improbably picked up its second 0.4 of the week with the premiere of new drama Walker on Thursday. This may well be the biggest CW series premiere in Plus in over three years, since Black Lightning got a 0.8 after The Flash in early 2018. It got there on the back of a much older-skewing audience than the typical CW fare; its 2.431 million total viewers were the most on the network in almost three years. It led into the return of Legacies (0.2) at 9/8c.
  • On ABC, Celebrity Wheel of Fortune (0.8) took a hard crash against full competition in week three, and The Chase (0.7) and The Hustler (0.5) went down with it.
  • The CBS comedies returned with Young Sheldon (0.8), B Positive (0.6) and Mom (0.6) up a notch from their fall finales, while The Unicorn (0.4) stayed low at 9:30.
  • NBC (0.5/0.4/0.6/0.3) and Fox (0.7/0.5/0.4) were both even to narrowly down.

Spotted Ratings, Thursday 1/14/21

FINALS UPDATE: Celebrity Wheel of Fortune (1.2), The Chase (0.9), Young Sheldon (R) (0.6), Mom (R) (0.4) and Call Me Kat (0.6) adjusted up.

WHAT MATTERS:
  • ABC's game show lineup stayed on top but declined narrowly in week two, with Celebrity Wheel of Fortune (1.1) matching last week's prelim (later adjusted up to a 1.2 final) while The Chase (0.8) and The Hustler (0.6) were each down a tenth.
  • The most severe decliner was Fox's Call Me Kat, dropping to 0.5 after posting a 0.6 prelim/0.7 final a week ago. Its surrounding programs Hell's Kitchen (0.7) and Last Man Standing (0.5) both matched last week's prelims.
  • And on NBC, week two of Mr. Mayor (0.5) dropped a tenth vs. last week's 8:00 premiere, while Superstore (0.5) returned in the 8:30 half-hour to lead into Law and Order: SVU (0.6).
