Rating the Ratings: ABC Wednesday was the network's strongest two-hour comedy block since long before the current generation came around, and at the start of it was a very good season from veteran The Middle. The network had far more year-to-year timeslot improvement with The Goldbergs at 8:30 and Black-ish at 9:30, and Modern Family of course remained the highest-rated of them all. But The Middle was quietly a big winner itself. After a couple oddly low points to start the season, it held onto 2.0ish ratings for pretty much the whole season, posting quite a few numbers on the year-to-year upside. The pure trend screams B+ here but I'm going a notch better since it set the series high in Plus by a pretty solid margin. Grade: A-.
Here's the now updated War of 18-49 post for The Middle.
