2012 Upfront Questions, General Thoughts

Last year, I did a series of "Upfront Questions" posts during the pre-upfront week, and I used those questions plus the revealed schedules for "Upfront Answers" during upfront week. I liked that format because 1) the lack of a formal prediction kept me from getting bogged down in things that ultimately didn't come to pass; 2) not predicting every single timeslot means I don't have to spend a ton of time reading about and wildly speculating on pilots; and 3) since I'm just "discussing the issues" and not making a formal prediction, I can't be wrong...! Gotta love that. So I'm gonna try generally the same thing this year.

I'm kicking it off this time with a "General Thoughts" post addressing a few big picture observations, and we'll come full circle and do the "General Thoughts" answers at the end of next week. Starting tomorrow, the network-specific posts, each one coming one week to the day before its network's upfront.
