Cablemetrics: American Gods, Famous in Love, Better Call Saul

These numbers are current through Monday, May 1.

WHAT MATTERS:
  • American Gods, the latest from Bryan Fuller, premiered on Starz to a 0.36, in a dead heat with The Leftovers for the premium. Power it is not, but that was close to the last Outlander premiere (0.39) from about a year ago.

Cablemetrics: The Leftovers, Veep, Doctor Who, Better Call Saul

These numbers are current through Monday, April 17.

WHAT MATTERS:
  • HBO will have to wait longer than usual for its Game of Thrones return, which would usually come about this time of year. But the network got some good news on a much smaller scale as the return of acclaimed drama The Leftovers (0.39) was up by six hundredths from its last premiere back in October 2015.

SpotVault - Better Call Saul (AMC) - Spring 2017 Ratings

Cablemetrics: Better Call Saul, Archer, Angie Tribeca, Into the Badlands

These numbers are current through Monday, April 10.

WHAT MATTERS:
  • AMC's Better Call Saul (0.70) returned on Monday and clearly remains a part of the cable elite. But like the season two premiere, it opened on a new series low; it was nearly a tenth below last season's low point and 34% behind last season's opener.

Cablemetrics: Pretty Little Liars, Damien, The Walking Dead, Better Call Saul

These numbers are current through Monday, March 21.

WHAT MATTERS:
  • Pretty Little Liars finished up its season with a 0.59, just barely topping its 0.55 series low from two weeks ago. Its -20% trend for the winter isn't that bad by cable standards, but it was very front-loaded... +12% for the premiere and down way over 20% in the later weeks. And the finale's 0.59 was less than half of the year-ago huge spike to 1.27.
  • A&E's Damien disappointed with its 0.31 on premiere night and then fell huge, to 0.21/0.20 in the last two weeks. This week, it retained just a third of its lead-in from Bates Motel.

Cablemetrics: The Walking Dead, Better Call Saul, Billions, Girls

These numbers are current through Thursday, February 25.

WHAT MATTERS:
  • The Walking Dead held nearly all of its premiere audience in week two, dropping just 3% to a 6.58. The year-to-year trend improved a lot since it dropped big against the Oscars in week two of last season, but that effect will be cancelled out next week when last night's rating against Oscar is added.

Cablemetrics: The Walking Dead, Vinyl, Better Call Saul, Vikings

These numbers are current through Thursday, February 18.

WHAT MATTERS:
  • The Walking Dead opened the back half of season six with a 6.75 demo rating, which is still unthinkably high in today's landscape... and yet down by 15% from the last spring premiere, and nearly 10% from the fall 2015 premiere. It's the lowest TWD half-season premiere in three years. (For perspective, only one non-Walking Dead regularly-scheduled scripted episode has done a higher number in that three-year span: the Empire season one finale.)
