NBC's fall 2021 lineup returned intact, with a modest decline for both The Voice and the final season of New Amsterdam. In the middle, La Brea took a more considerable sophomore dip, continuing a long tradition for this type of show.

In the winter, NBC got a major breakout start from its revival of Night Court, which started well into megahit territory, then fell big in weeks two and three before somewhat steadying a little north of the league average for the rest of the winter period. But sophomore American Auto saw little benefit at 8:30. And the last two hours housed seven La Brea episodes in a four-week span, which looked considerably worse without their The Voice lead-in. Despite Night Court, the nightly comparisons looked ugly as life without This Is Us began.

Game shows filled in for La Brea in the spring and looked a little better, but Night Court was consistently below the league average after DST.

The Voice Tue Fall: Already updated.

Night Court: These 16 episodes actually look rather similar to the 16-episode first season trajectory of the Will and Grace revival, with W&G looking stronger at the start (especially later in its first month) but the two shows ending up in a kinda similar place. Like with W&G, I'm basically giving it a good grade because the early ratings were such a nice achievement. But W&G's strength faded quickly in subsequent seasons, and we'll have to see if it happens again. Grade: B+.

American Auto: It couldn't even grow in Plus from winter to winter despite having the direct Night Court lead-in. NBC really wanted to make this show into their next The Office, but it just wasn't happening (and it clearly wasn't even their next Superstore). Grade: D+.

La Brea: I didn't think it did that bad in the fall; it was down more than The Voice, but it still seemed to have at least some of that casual appeal to The Voice's audience. But, as expected, there was really nothing left once that lead-in was gone. It's getting a six-episode third season; assuming that's the end, that's a pretty quick flame-out even by this genre's standards. Grade: D+.

The Voice Tue Spring: Already updated.

The Wall: This is roughly the kind of Plus The Wall has posted wherever it's shown up for the last few years. This seems like one of its easier timeslots in that period, though, so it really pales when lined up with something like That's My Jam. Grade: C.

New Amsterdam: Somehow this show managed to stabilize as just a mediocre performer for its last couple seasons, which is actually a win considering how fast it was eroding in seasons two and three. Even-ish in Plus after a much weaker La Brea is not too bad. Grade: B-.

That's My Jam: Already updated.

Weakest Link: The Plus growth is because it was rescued from the Sunday abyss, but it actually grew on The Wall a few times at 10/9c, which was kinda interesting. Grade: C+.
