WHAT MATTERS:

• Three days after the Super Bowl, The Masked Singer (2.0) returned diminished; it was down a third from the year-ago winter premiere, and 20% off from the fall premiere. But Fox got a major consolation prize in the 9/8c hour with an outstanding start for unscripted lead-out LEGO Masters (1.6), more than doubling the premiere of fall TMS lead-out Almost Family which had the same 2.0 lead-in.

• Fox had a lot of competition, not just from NBC's Chicago trio (1.1/1.1/1.1) but also from a special Wednesday edition of The Bachelor (1.4/1.3). Bachelor, however, was no help to the usual 10/9c occupant Stumptown (0.4).

• CBS had a Survivor retrospective special (0.6) a week before the 40th season premiere, leading into a double-dose of Criminal Minds (0.6/0.5). The CW (0.2/0.1) was even.

FINALS UPDATE: NCIS (R) (0.5) adjusted down.

WHAT MATTERS:

• The big four simulcast the State of the Union starting at 9:00 ET. The only entertainment originals in the 8:00 hour were unscripted offerings Ellen's Game of Games (1.0) and an out-of-slot edition of 24 Hours to Hell and Back (0.8), and they were rewarded as the NBC (0.9/0.8) and Fox (0.9) SOTU coverage easily outrated ABC (0.5/0.6) and CBS (0.5/0.5) in the prelims.

• The CW had the only scripted counterprogramming as The Flash (0.4) returned for its first new episode of 2020, leading into Legends of Tomorrow (0.2).

FINALS UPDATE: No adjustments.

WHAT MATTERS:

• Fox got an impressive Super Monday bounce as 9-1-1: Lone Star (1.3), at least for one night, looked every bit as strong as the 9-1-1 mothership, while Prodigal Son was back up to 0.8 for the first time in six episodes.

• ABC still dominated the night thanks to three hours of The Bachelor (1.6/1.6/1.4), while NBC's Manifest (0.7) preliminarily had a crucial rebound following a steady-ish America's Got Talent: The Champions (1.0/1.1).

• CBS' The Neighborhood (0.8) was down a notch after a week off, and all the other eye originals (0.7/0.6/0.6) matched two weeks ago. The CW (0.2/0.2) was also even.

FINALS UPDATE: Super Bowl (29.9, +3.2) adjusted up while Ellen's Game of Games (R) (0.2), Super Bowl Postgame (18.2, -2.8) and The Masked Singer (8.1, -1.8) adjusted down.

WHAT MATTERS:

• Time zone-adjusted fast nationals (much more accurate than what is in the table below) have the Super Bowl at 99.9 million viewers, up by 1% from last year, while lead-out The Masked Singer (23.7 million viewers and an 8.1 demo rating) was only a modest improvement on last year's The World's Best (22.2 million and a 7.0) and trailed This Is Us from two years ago (27.0 million and 9.3).
• In terms of the game's 18-49 score, the non-adjusted hourly 18-49 ratings (27.7/27.0/25.5) are suggesting a roughly 4% year-to-year decline vs. last year's preliminaries (28.5/28.2/27.1), trending a bit worse as the game went on. Last year's game adjusted up to a 31.1 final.
• It is possible the time zone-adjusted numbers could shift enough in finals to put the game over 100 million. (Last year's game had 98.2 million in the fast nats and ended up with 98.5 million in the finals.)

FINALS UPDATE: The Good Place Special (0.5) adjusted down.

WHAT MATTERS:

• The 90-minute series finale of The Good Place (0.7/0.7/0.6), which included live post-show interviews, got the show back into 0.7 territory for the first time since the season premiere and matched its lead-in from Superstore (0.7).

• ABC came back to earth somewhat from last week's crossover premiere night, but still dominated the first two hours with Station 19 (1.0) and Grey's Anatomy (1.1). A Million Little Things (0.6) was down a notch at 10/9c.

• Fox's Last Man Standing (0.7) dropped a tenth, but the newbie lead-outs Outmatched (0.6) and Deputy (0.6) held on pretty well. The CBS comedies (1.0/0.6/0.7/0.6) were even vs. two weeks ago while Evil (0.5) ticked up in its season finale. And the CW was preliminarily on the high end with Supernatural (0.3) and Legacies (0.3).
