FINALS UPDATE: America's Got Talent (1.0) and
LEGO Masters (0.5) adjusted up.
WHAT MATTERS:- Numbers posted. America's Got Talent had its traditional return on the first Tuesday of the summer, up against the season two premiere of LEGO Masters on Fox.
FINALS UPDATE: Movie: Mike Tyson: The Knockout p1 (0.6) and
The Voice (0.8) adjusted up.
WHAT MATTERS:- Numbers posted. NBC aired the This Is Us season finale at 10/9c following the two-hour season finale of The Voice. Finale night for the CBS dramas meant the end of 18 years on Tuesday at 8/7c for NCIS, with a Monday move coming next season. Fox had a special Tuesday edition of Game of Talents leading into the return of Mental Samurai. And ABC went with the first night of its two-part Mike Tyson doc.
FINALS UPDATE: 1969 (0.3) and
Mental Samurai (0.4) adjusted down.
WHAT MATTERS:- With a lead-in from The Village (0.6), the two-hour season finale of The Voice (1.0/1.1) picked up little to no ground from last week, and was down about 30% from the year-ago spring finale.
- It was NCIS (1.2), not Voice, that was the top program on the last Tuesday of the season, and it was used as a lead-in for the two-hour premiere of summer drama Blood and Treasure (0.6). B&T at least so far is probably looking a little better than Salvation, CBS' last effort in the summer drama realm. (It premiered to a 0.7 after Big Brother two years ago, and never got higher than 0.4 all of last season.)
- On finale night, ABC saw a decrease for American Housewife (0.7) but an increase for Black-ish (0.7) and 1969 (0.4). Fox's unscripted (0.8/0.5) was up, while the CW's The 100 fell to its first 0.2 of the season as The Flash (0.2) went into repeats.
FINALS UPDATE: No adjustments.
WHAT MATTERS:- ABC gave Bless This Mess (0.6) a one-time tryout in the 9/8c half-hour, where it matched the 0.6 it pulled last week at 9:30. In the 8:00 hour, American Housewife (0.8) and The Kids Are Alright (0.6) both gave back last week's upticks.
- The rest of broadcast brought another mix of evenness and one-tenth downticks. CBS was down a notch with NCIS (to a new low 1.0) and FBI (0.8), while NBC's The Village (0.6) and Fox's unscripted shows (0.7/0.5) all surrendered their gains from last week.
FINALS UPDATE: MasterChef Junior (0.8) and
The Flash (0.6) adjusted up.
WHAT MATTERS:- NBC flipped The Village (0.6) to 8/7c, while The Voice results show (0.9) went to 9/8c. This didn't change The Village and brought Voice down by another tenth, but NBC netted a win since it got New Amsterdam (0.8) to rise by two tenths at 10/9c.
- On ABC, Bless This Mess (0.7) dropped a couple tenths in week two, tying Black-ish (0.7) in the demo but still building from it by about 10% in total viewers. At 10/9c, new documentary series 1969 (0.4) was a big downgrade on previous occupant The Rookie. The night led off with steady American Housewife (0.8) and a Bless This Mess pilot encore (0.6).
- CBS snuck in some pre-sweeps repeats (0.7/0.6) and an original NCIS: New Orleans (0.6), Fox's unscripted (0.7/0.5) was even yet again, and the CW at least preliminarily got back to 0.3 for the season-maybe-series finale of Roswell, New Mexico.
FINALS UPDATE: Ellen's Game of Games (1.2) and
This Is Us (1.9) adjusted up while
The Village (0.7) and
Roswell, New Mexico (R)
(0.1) adjusted down.
WHAT MATTERS:- The third season finale of This Is Us (1.8) was up a tenth from last week, but down a full point from the season two finale. In its third and final airing alongside This Is Us before a move to 9/8c, The Village (0.8) tried to keep itself in the mix with a preliminary week three uptick (though it may be close to adjusting down in finals). The night began with a new low for the season finale of Ellen's Game of Games (1.1).
- CBS was down a tenth with NCIS (1.1), even with FBI (0.9) in its backdoor pilot for the Most Wanted spin-off and up a tenth with NCIS: New Orleans (0.8). ABC aired repeats of The Goldbergs (0.7) and Modern Family (0.6) in the 8/7c hour which didn't look too different from the usual original occupants. Later, Black-ish (0.7) was up a tenth while Splitting Up Together (0.6) and The Rookie (0.7) were steady. Fox's unscripted (0.7/0.6) was even.
