Ellen's Game of Games (R)
(0.5),
The Masked Singer (1.9, +0.2) and
I Can See Your Voice (1.2) adjusted up while
Jimmy Kimmel Live: Game Night (0.6, -0.5) and
NBA Countdown (0.8, -0.2) adjusted down.
WHAT MATTERS:
FINALS UPDATE: Big Brother (1.2),
America's Got Talent (R)
(0.7),
America's Got Talent (0.9),
The Masked Singer (1.6, +0.2) and
I Can See Your Voice (1.2) adjusted up.
WHAT MATTERS:- Fox reality stalwart The Masked Singer (1.4) returned to top Premiere Wednesday, but it was down a steep 40%ish from the show's fall premiere a year ago. Its new unscripted lead-out I Can See Your Voice (1.1) held on well at 9/8c, clearly outperforming the dud year-ago post-TMS occupant (Almost Family) and posting about the same retention as the winter occupant LEGO Masters (which premiere to a 1.6 after a 2.0).
- It was finale night for America's Got Talent (0.8/0.9) from 9:00 to 11:00, possibly eyeing the series' first 0.9 in over a month. CBS had its usual duo of Big Brother (1.1) and Love Island (0.6), with the latter hitting a new season high if it holds in finals.
FINALS UPDATE: Academy of Country Music Awards (1.1) adjusted up while
The Goldbergs (R)
(0.3) adjusted down.
FINALS UPDATE: Big Brother (1.1) and
48 Hours: Suspicion (0.4) adjusted up.
FINALS UPDATE: ABC Democratic National Convention (0.4) and
NBC Democratic National Convention (0.5) adjusted up.
FINALS UPDATE: No adjustments.
WHAT MATTERS:- Week two of Big Brother (1.1) improved, back in its more familiar 8/7c slot, trouncing the timeslot premiere of Wednesday results shows for America's Got Talent (0.7). AGT led into a special Wednesday finale for World of Dance (0.6).
- The two-hour series finale of Agents of SHIELD (0.4/0.3) is eyeing a season high (at least in the 9/8c hour). Week two of Coroner remained at 0.1 while the gap in total viewers vs. The 100 narrowed (656k vs. 629k this week).
FINALS UPDATE: No adjustments.
WHAT MATTERS:- Back six weeks later than last year for an all-star season, CBS' Big Brother (1.0) had a two-hour premiere from 9:00 to 11:00, doubling its Tough As Nails lead-in but down three tenths vs. last year's 1.3 premiere.
- The CW added yet another acquisition to the mix in Canadian drama Coroner (0.1), which actually built by more than 200,000 total viewers vs. its The 100 (0.1) lead-in. ABC's United We Fall continued to hang on at 0.5.
FINALS UPDATE: Tough As Nails (0.4) adjusted down.
WHAT MATTERS:- ABC got a passable start out of summer sitcom United We Fall (0.6/0.5), improving on recent comedy repeat results on the night. It's behind where the last ABC summer sitcom effort Downward Dog began for its Tuesday premiere in 2017 (a 1.0 / 80 Plus) but it beat the post-premiere Downward eps, so it could be comparable if it holds up better.
- On CBS, week two of Tough As Nails (0.5) was down a tenth in the 8/7c hour, while Game On! (0.3) suffered hugely in its move to the 9/8c hour. Fox's Ultimate Tag (0.3) also had an uncommonly awful showing at 9/8c.
FINALS UPDATE: The 100 (0.2) adjusted up while
Black-ish (R)
(0.3) adjusted down.
WHAT MATTERS:- The two-hour premiere of CBS reality series Tough As Nails (0.6) started a hair below where Game On! began in the timeslot six weeks ago (0.65). It was the top program of the evening, holding off Fox's Ultimate Tag (0.5) which returned from a week off.
FINALS UPDATE: The 100 (0.1) adjusted down.
FINALS UPDATE: Ultimate Tag (0.5) adjusted up while
Agents of SHIELD (0.2) adjusted down.
FINALS UPDATE: No adjustments.
FINALS UPDATE: S.W.A.T. (R)
(0.3) adjusted down.
FINALS UPDATE: MasterChef (R)
(0.4) and
Ultimate Tag (0.5) adjusted down.
FINALS UPDATE: Game On! (0.7) adjusted up while
Agents of SHIELD (0.3) adjusted down.
WHAT MATTERS:- CBS opened reality newbie Game On! (0.6) in the 8/7c hour. Last year's summer newbie Love Island also started at 0.6.
- Game On! tied for the biggest program of the night with week two of Fox's Ultimate Tag (0.6), which was down by more than 50% week-to-week but did manage to build noticeably on its MasterChef repeat lead-in (0.4).
- And ABC brought back Marvel's Agents of SHIELD (0.4) for its final season, leading out of Marvel theatrical Thor: The Dark World (0.5).
FINALS UPDATE: No adjustments.
WHAT MATTERS:- On the last night of the regular season, Fox had the original landscape mostly to itself, and used a huge season finale of The Masked Singer (2.3) to lead into the premiere of summer reality newbie Ultimate Tag (1.3). Tag was not as impressive retention-wise as the LEGO Masters premiere (1.6 out of a 2.0 back in February), but still quite far ahead of where Almost Family started in the fall (0.75 out of a 2.0).
- The CW premiered the final season of The 100 (0.2), and CBS had the season finale of S.W.A.T. (0.6) which upticked from repeat lead-ins (0.5/0.5) at 10/9c. ABC eked out second place for the night led by theatrical Moana (0.6/0.7).

FINALS UPDATE: Bachelor in Paradise (1.1) and
America's Got Talent (1.5) adjusted up while
Bless This Mess (R)
(0.3) adjusted down.
WHAT MATTERS:- Bachelor in Paradise (1.1/1.0) was weaker in its first Tuesday episode, but still had about the same raw numbers as the early Tuesday episodes last season.
- Facing Paradise instead of last week's The Bachelorette finale and a presidential debate, America's Got Talent (1.3/1.6) and Bring the Funny (0.9) both rebounded by multiple tenths.
- Elsewhere, First Responders Live (0.4) moved to Tuesday, handing its Wednesday slot off to BH90210. CBS was even with Love Island (0.4) and Blood and Treasure (0.3) as was the CW with Pandora (0.1) and the season finale of The 100 (0.2).
FINALS UPDATE: Holey Moley (R)
(0.5) adjusted down.
WHAT MATTERS:- After just missing out on a 2.0 for night one of the season finale, The Bachelorette (2.0/2.1) got there on night two. The huge lead-in went to a repeat of Holey Moley (0.6) at 10/9c.
- Meanwhile, Bachelorette completely demolished the network that usually has a Tuesday monopoly, as NBC's America's Got Talent (1.2/1.3) was down nearly a half point from last week and lead-out Bring the Funny (0.7) dropped by 0.2. CBS originals Love Island (0.4) and Blood and Treasure (0.3) were even, as were the CW dramas (0.1/0.2).
