Rating the Ratings: It's hard to believe that 90210 was a pretty reliable 0.7 to 0.8 show for much of last season. This year, it completely fell apart from day one. It began season five at a horrifying 0.4, already a new series low, though it did perk up to 0.6 on a few occasions during the fall. But a move to the 9/8c hour at midseason was the deathblow; after three more weeks at 0.4, it dropped into The LA Complex territory, fluctuating between 0.2 and 0.3. The CW has always loved handing out announced final seasons, but these numbers got too weak for even that kind of treatment. And unlike Gossip Girl, which found some real momentum in its last episodes, nobody showed up for the series finale. It hit a 0.2 and had the show's second-lowest audience delivery. Grade: F.

Here's the now updated War of 18-49 post for 90210.

Not that these two shows were competing for the "announced final season run," but Nikita clearly beat 90210 out in that race; pulling a 0.3/0.4 on Fridays is more palatable than on Mondays. 90210 dodged/survived against American Idol, but couldn't against The Voice (and other, female-focused Monday shows).

I always thought up until this season that 90210 was very reliable in 18-49s for the CW and was one of its hits but yeah this season just completely fell apart. It was a good season too, better than last season in my opinion but I guess most people didn't want to tune in anymore. It won't be a show I miss so it's fine but it was good while it lasted.
