- NBC had an above average Wednesday thanks to the Miss Universe Competition, up by two tenths from last year when it aired in a much different time of year (early September). It averaged a 2.3 in the final half hour, which (alongside the weaker CBS) no doubt helped vault Chicago Fire into another tie for its best without-Voice number.
- Finale week of The X Factor began with no week-to-week bounce, but that was the case on the final Wednesday of last season too.
- A few other random specials also aired; CBS' always old-skewing A Home for the Holidays dropped in finals to finish even with last year, while ABC's The Year with Katie Couric was up a tick year-to-year.
