First Two Weeks, My Generation

MY GENERATION (ABC)

Sampling: What a lot of people have said in past years about ABC premiere week is that they can get people to show up but not to stay. This year, though, ABC's had real trouble even getting people to show up in a couple cases. My Generation's 1.6 demo puts it barely ahead of The Whole Truth from the night before, it tied CDub competitor The Vampire Diaries in A18-49, and once again there's not much hope.

Retention: But if there's one thing you can say about the dead-on-arrival entries of this season, it's that the poor have only gotten poorer. And My Generation's drop was particularly staggering, down 31% to just a 1.1 demo, the largest same-timeslot drop of any of the eighteen shows so far. And it finished well behind The Vampire Diaries on the CW.

Prognosis: Well, I said I was rushing to beat the cancellation announcement with my post on The Whole Truth, but said announcement hasn't come yet. So I guess I won't go playing the "it won't air next week" card with My Generation. But it probably shouldn't air next week. A lot of stuff can do better than a 1.1 demo. As with The Whole Truth, there's no way it'll get any kind of extension beyond the initial order.
