FINALS UPDATE: MasterChef (0.8) adjusted up.

WHAT MATTERS:

• Back from a week off for the holiday, ABC Thursday saw declines from Holey Moley (0.8) and Family Food Fight (0.5), but an uptick from Reef Break (0.4) at 10/9c.

• Big Brother (1.0) moved to Thursday and matched Wednesday's rating, as did night three of Love Island (0.6). Fox was even with MasterChef (0.7) and Spin the Wheel (0.6).

• NBC had a soft return from Hollywood Game Night (0.5), kicking off its first regularly-scheduled run in two years, and the CW's summer drama The Outpost (0.1) returned for season two.

FINALS UPDATE: Big Brother (1.1) and MasterChef (0.8) adjusted up while Ellen's Game of Games (R) (0.6) adjusted down.

WHAT MATTERS:

• Night two of Love Island held onto the 0.6 from Tuesday's premiere, while Big Brother (1.0) was down a tick in its move to 9/8c. Fox returned to originals with a steady MasterChef (0.7) and an uptick from First Responders Live (0.5).

• ABC preempted its game show lineup in favor of the ESPY Awards (0.8/0.9/0.8), which were about in line with last year's 0.9.

Spotted Ratings, Tuesday 7/9/19

FINALS UPDATE: America's Got Talent (1.5) and MLB All-Star Game (1.9, +0.2) adjusted up while American Housewife (R) (0.3) and The Goldbergs (R) (0.3) adjusted down.

WHAT MATTERS:

• Two months after the Paradise Hotel debacle on Fox, another love-themed reality series expected to chew up a lot of hours had a similarly rough start. CBS' Love Island (0.6/0.5) looks to have just barely outrated the May Paradise Hotel (0.5) premiere.

• NBC had much more promising news with its own reality premiere, Bring the Funny (1.2) at 10/9c after America's Got Talent (1.4). At least preliminarily, it actually managed to top the Songland premiere six weeks ago (1.1), even though Talent was three tenths higher on that night.

• Fox topped the night with the MLB All-Star Game (1.6/1.7/1.6), though it was down 20%ish from last year's 2.1.

• Finally airing all originals for consecutive weeks, ABC got some game show improvement as Celebrity Family Feud (0.9) and The $100,000 Pyramid (0.8) both grew, while To Tell the Truth (0.7) was even.

• There was no change for week two of CBS' Big Brother (1.0) / Instinct (0.3) / The Good Fight (0.2), nor for the second episode of What Just Happened??! with Fred Savage (0.2) on Fox.
