WHAT MATTERS:

• It was a good news/bad news night for FXX's premiere comedies. The League was back with a 0.49, up 20% from last year's premiere, and continued its long tradition of laser-focusing on the 18-49 demo like almost nothing else on TV. (Its 86% skew is nearly 20 points ahead of anything else on the table, and it means that only about 100,000 of its 720,000 total viewers were out of the 18-49 demo.) But the acclaimed sophomore You're the Worst (0.16) had weak one-third retention in its move from FX and set a new series low.
  

Schedule Five-Spot, WE 12/18/11 - The Finder, The League, EM:HE, Undercover Boss, Off Their Rockers

Here's the Schedule Five-Spot for the week ending December 18, 2011 (plus one from two weeks ago):

The Finder - One note from an otherwise slow WE 12/11/11 was that Fox rectified one of the strangest items from its midseason announcement. Previously, Fox was planning to launch Bones spin-off The Finder with no real support after a repeat of Bones on January 12. Now, Fox has moved an original into the 8:00 hour. Not only should this help The Finder, but it'll be a good indicator of where Bones (which has had big lead-ins all season) is really at.

Ratings Five-Spot, WE 10/9/11 - Dexter, Hung, House, American Horror Story, The League

For the first time in the SpoilerTV era, the Ratings Five-Spot dips into cable ratings, examining the Dexter, Homeland and Hung premieres from a couple Sundays ago and a pair of solid FX premieres in the last week. I also take one stop on broadcast in looking at the return of House and week two of Terra Nova. Check it out!

Scheduling Five-Spot, WE 2/13/11 - Smallville, Keith Olbermann, The Hard Times of RJ Berger, The League, The Killing

Lots of pilot casting and pickups this week, but I typically avoid calling that "scheduling news" since all those shows are still a pretty long way from actually getting onto a schedule. So I managed to pick out five tidbits that will actually affect schedules! Here's your Scheduling Five-Spot for the week ending February 13, 2011:

Smallville - The CW has scheduled the two-hour series finale of long-running drama Smallville for May 13. It'll be interesting to see if any of the old fans come back for the end. (The net has already announced Michael Rosenbaum will reprise his role as Lex Luthor.) The show is averaging just a 1.11 in adults 18-49 this season, less than a third of the numbers it frequently achieved in the early seasons.
