WHAT MATTERS:

• Adult Swim's Rick and Morty (1.12) extended its lead over the rest of scripted original cable, growing 9% to another new series high in week two. We'll see next week if it could hold that crown against last night's finale of True Detective.

Let's take a look at the 2012-13 season (the sixth overall) of The Game on BET.

Spotted Ratings, Tuesday 9/3/13

WHAT MATTERS:

• On another mostly upward night for broadcast originals, the biggest surge came on cable, where BET's The Game (1.9) wrapped up season six with a huge bounce from its usual low-1's level this summer.

WHAT MATTERS:

• The only real excitement on broadcast Tuesday of late was CBS' decision less than a week into the Big Brother season to revert it to the Wednesday/Thursday/Sunday scheduling that has been the norm of late. The Tuesday premiere/finale on July 2 was only a tick behind the Wednesday premiere of last summer.

Let's take a look at the 2011-12 season (the fifth overall) of The Game on BET.

Spotted Ratings, Tuesday 6/5/12

WHAT MATTERS:

• NBC kicked off season two of Love in the Wild down by 27% from last year's series premiere, but the number was about in line with the season one average of 1.63.

• Night two of Hell's Kitchen was down an unfortunate three ticks from its night-ago premiere, but MasterChef held up better and actually built on its Hell's lead-in for what looks like the first time ever.

• Cable finished off a full week of nightly leadership with another rockin' Eastern Conference Finals game (4.6) on ESPN.

• Elsewhere on cable, TNT kicked off the summer with the premieres of Rizzoli & Isles (1.2) and Franklin & Bash (0.9), both of which were about on par with their year-ago premieres in the demo. That's good news for Rizzoli, which moved to a new night away from The Closer, whereas Franklin actually got a good lead-in for the first time. ABC Family had a surprisingly weak premiere from Pretty Little Liars (1.1), down a couple ticks year-to-year even though the show is coming off series highs from the spring finale's big reveal. The season finale of The Game (1.3) led among scripted programs with its biggest numbers in over two months.

Another edition covering two weeks! Technically speaking, here's the Schedule Five-Spot for the week ending April 15, 2012:

New Girl - Fox handed out renewals to their Tuesday lineup of Glee, New Girl and Raising Hope. New Girl has dropped a ton from its early fall numbers but is still easily Fox's biggest success in the live action half-hour arena in quite some time. Critically beloved Raising Hope probably made its case when it held up pretty well in its tryout at 8/7c this spring. Glee remains way down year-to-year but certainly deserves a season four, even if it'll likely keep bleeding.

THE GAME (The CW/BET)

Scheduling history: In its first two seasons, The Game followed the other CDub comedies from Sunday to Monday and back again. Season three saw the CW essentially burn it (and Everybody Hates Chris) off on Friday. Then came a Tuesday timeslot on BET, which was where the ratings went through the roof. The last two BET seasons aired on Wednesday.
