FINALS UPDATE: American Idol (0.7),
American Song Contest (0.3) and
9-1-1 (0.7) adjusted up.
WHAT MATTERS:
FINALS UPDATE: Winter Olympics (1.5) adjusted up.
WHAT MATTERS:
FINALS UPDATE: The Price Is Right Special (0.6) adjusted up.
WHAT MATTERS:- Numbers posted. CBS' Kennedy Center Honors returned, barely six months after the last, pandemic-delayed edition in June.
FINALS UPDATE: Station 19 (0.8) and
Grey's Anatomy (0.8) adjusted up while
Law and Order: SVU (0.7) and
The Outpost (0.0) adjusted down.
WHAT MATTERS:- ABC had its Thursday premiere night with the returns of Station 19 (0.76), Grey's Anatomy (0.77) and Big Sky (0.37), and major year-to-year declines were the norm across the board. Station was the only one of the three to rise from its finale, and it was easily the weakest premiere in Grey's Anatomy history. And the sophomore Big Sky was unable to even get back to its much-reduced late season one levels in what should've been a better timeslot.
- It was another three-hour Law & Order night on NBC, this time with Law and Order: Organized Crime (0.67) getting the two-hour treatment. That proved beneficial, as it rose by nearly a tenth vs. last week's premiere, while Law and Order: SVU (0.73) was down a bit.
FINALS UPDATE: Presidential Address ABC (0.7),
Presidential Address CBS (0.5) and
Presidential Address NBC (0.6) adjusted up.
WHAT MATTERS:- The big four had a presidential address simulcast in the last two hours of East Coast primetime, with the ABC coverage (0.6/0.5) narrowly leading the way over NBC (0.5/0.4), Fox (0.4) and CBS (0.4/0.3).
- Fox won the 8/7c hour with a sing-along special edition of The Masked Singer (0.8), while ABC's The Goldbergs (0.5) and Home Economics (0.4) were on the low end with originals.
FINALS UPDATE: American Housewife (0.6) and
Chicago PD (1.0) adjusted up while
Riverdale (R)
(0.0) adjusted down.
WHAT MATTERS:- ABC added new comedy Call Your Mother (0.5) to its comedy lineup after The Conners (0.6), where it looked maybe a little better than Black-ish (which was usually two tenths below The Conners in the fall). The night started with a steady The Goldbergs (0.7) and slightly down American Housewife (0.5).
- NBC was on top with the returns of Chicago Med (1.0), Chicago Fire (1.0) and Chicago PD (0.9), with PD ticking up from its fall finale almost two months ago. The Fox reality duo of The Masked Dancer (0.7) and Name That Tune (0.7) matched last week, while CBS' SEAL Team (0.5) and S.W.A.T. (0.4) returned following a The Price is Right special (0.7).
FINALS UPDATE: The Bachelorette (1.4, +0.2),
The Price Is Right Special (0.8),
Let's Make a Deal Special (0.7),
The Voice (R)
(0.5) and
NEXT (0.3) adjusted up.
WHAT MATTERS:
FINALS UPDATE: Dancing with the Stars (0.8),
The Good Doctor (0.7),
The Voice (1.1) and
Filthy Rich (0.3) adjusted up while
Penn and Teller: Fool Us (R)
(0.1) adjusted down.
WHAT MATTERS:- ABC's The Good Doctor (0.6) returned low in the 10:00 hour, off by at least a third from last year's 0.96 premiere. In a reunion with its usual lead-out, Dancing with the Stars (0.7) was also on the low end.
- NBC was steady with The Voice (1.0) and a Saturday Night Live election special (0.6). Fox's dramas (0.3/0.2) both dropped, and CBS had another The Price Is Right special (0.6) at 8/7c.
FINALS UPDATE: The Price Is Right Special (0.8) and
World Series (3.4, +0.7) adjusted up while
The Conners (R)
(0.4) adjusted down.
WHAT MATTERS:- NBC's This Is Us (1.4/1.3) made a solid two-hour return to the broadcast stage, building significantly on its The Voice (1.0) lead-in, though TIU was still down 25-30% from last year's premiere and also down from the spring's COVID-boosted finale (1.7).
- That was enough to edge NBC ahead of ABC with a rebounding The Bachelorette (1.2/1.3) and comedy repeats (0.5/0.3), though Fox reigned supreme with the sixth and final game of the World Series (3.1/2.6/2.4).
- CBS also got into the mix on a busy night with two hours of its daytime game shows (0.7/0.6) in primetime, though they weren't a great match with The FBI Declassified (0.3). And the CW preliminarily edged back up to 0.2 with Swamp Thing.
FINALS UPDATE: The Baker and the Beauty (0.4) and
Songland (0.6) adjusted down.
WHAT MATTERS:- The Price is Right (0.9) returned to primetime, outrating both of the TPiR specials (0.75/0.75) that aired in late December.
- It was a flat night for most of the entertainment originals, including the season finale of 9-1-1 (1.3) which topped the night. NBC's Songland (0.7) managed a small uptick after The Voice (1.0/0.9), while ABC's The Bachelor Presents: Listen to Your Heart (0.6) and The Baker and the Beauty (0.5) were even yet again.
FINALS UPDATE: The Good Doctor (R)
(0.2),
The Price Is Right Special (0.8),
All Rise (R)
(0.4, -0.2),
Bull (R)
(0.3, -0.2) and
Prodigal Son (R)
(0.3) adjusted down.
FINALS UPDATE: 60 Minutes (0.7),
Sunday Night Football (4.6, +0.6) and
NFL Overrun (6.4, +0.9) adjusted up while
NCIS: New Orleans (R)
(0.2),
Football Night in America p2 (1.1, -0.4) and
Football Night in America p3 (2.5, -0.7) adjusted down.
