It's time for a journey through the CBS Sunday schedule in 2021-22...

CBS completed its full year of huge timeslot growth driven by the arrival of The Equalizer, with this period arguably being the most impressive since it wasn't being compared with something dreadful like God Friended Me. NCIS: Los Angeles was just fine in the 9/8c hour, and the most frequent occupant at 10:30 was a brief SEAL Team event previewing the veteran CBS show's move to Paramount+.

In the winter, The Equalizer was finally compared against itself, and was down only a little bit vs. the series' opening months. That loss was recouped in the 10/9c hour, where S.W.A.T. came off an impressive Friday run and opened even more eyes with growth at 10/9c.

With the dust having settled on The Equalizer season one, the show was even closer to even in the spring. S.W.A.T. posted another impressive gain at 10/9c.

60 Minutes: It was up in the fall (NFL) and spring (March Madness) and down some in the winter when sports were less of a factor. Nothing too out of the ordinary, though. Grade: B-.

The Equalizer: From a first-run ratings perspective, CBS Sunday was long one of the biggest market inefficiencies in broadcast primetime, as the net wallowed away with underperformers like Madam Secretary and God Friended Me. But The Equalizer has come in and unlocked that potential, with an assist from S.W.A.T. this year. Will newbie East New York keep the momentum going next year? Anyway, I thought about a B+ here but the growth is mostly due to airing in the fall after football I will go with merely a Grade: B.

NCIS: Los Angeles: Moving to 9:00 in the fall wasn't much of a downgrade considering how solid the 8/7c show was, and the apples-to-apples comparisons later in the season suggested a very steady to minimally down show. Grade: B-.

S.W.A.T.: Already updated.
