Cablemetrics: Better Call Saul, Archer, Angie Tribeca, Into the Badlands

These numbers are current through Monday, April 10.

WHAT MATTERS:

• AMC's Better Call Saul (0.70) returned on Monday and clearly remains a part of the cable elite. But like the season two premiere, it opened on a new series low; it was nearly a tenth below last season's low point and 34% behind last season's opener.

• Archer became the latest comedy to make the FX -> FXX transition, and its 0.41 demo was down 24% from its final season premiere on FX. That's actually less of a y2y decline than it took last season, and it'd definitely be a big win if it could hold that rate of decline in the move to lower-profile FXX. But it may not be sustainable, as It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia could attest; it was down only 20% y2y in its first episode on FXX but dropped big from there and ended up losing 48% for the full season of the FXX move.

• TBS featured the returns of American Dad! (0.49) and Angie Tribeca (0.31) on Monday, now airing in the 10:00 hour. Dad! was on the low end of its results from its last run in the fall, but this was actually bigger than anything Tribeca did last season (when it topped out at a 0.30 in June).

• And on AMC, Into the Badlands (0.58) once again lost more than half of its demo as its lead-in The Walking Dead went away. This was literally the exact percent crash it took last year, as episodes three and four were both -45% y2y. What was left behind is an audience that would still be one of the best on cable... but this time, it has a ten-episode order, so it will have to hold on without Dead for a lot longer than last year (when it had just three without-Dead eps). 
• Badlands actually fell behind Homeland (0.62) for the Sunday cable drama crown, as the Showtime veteran surged to a new season high on finale night.
