WHAT MATTERS:
- Fox opened the fall for new broadcast scripted programming with an 8/7c preview of new comedy Son of Zorn (2.4), leading out of NFL coverage which had a preliminary 7.8 at 7:00 and 5.8 at 8:30. Assuming it holds up in finals, this is not too different from what The Simpsons did with the NFL lead-in last fall (mostly ranging from high-2's in the early fall to low-2's in the late fall). Son of Zorn will be back in its regular 8:30 timeslot in two weeks.
- On ABC, Celebrity Family Feud (1.3) was back to finish its season alongside the 2016 Miss America Competition (1.3), which was down two tenths from last year's 1.5. It was a decent finish to the season for Feud, beating all three of its August ratings, but it still never got back to its mid-1's level from early in the summer.
- NBC had its first of many dominant fall Sundays with Sunday Night Football, though its 7.5 prelim was a good bit below the 9.2 prelim/10.1 final for the Sunday opener last season.
- And CBS' Big Brother (1.8) was back to normal after its Labor Day weekend hiccup last week, leading into the last two hours of BrainDead (0.5/0.3).
