Cablemetrics: The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story, Young and Hungry, Pretty Little Liars

These numbers are current through Thursday, February 4.

WHAT MATTERS:

• FX's The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story started with a 1.96. It was not quite as big as the last American Horror Story premiere (2.99), and it skewed a lot older (49% in the 18-49 demo vs. 66% for the last AHS season). But nothing else in scripted original cable was even that close to a 1.0 this week, so it's still huge by any other standard. 

• Freeform opened up its third night of original programming with the return of comedies Young and Hungry (0.30) and Baby Daddy (0.28). Baby Daddy was down massively from last year's 0.55 opener when it was paired with the veteran Melissa and Joey. But it quickly dropped from that premiere into the 0.35-0.4 range so we'll see if it can hold up better. Y&H was down 17% from its last opener.

• It wasn't a pretty week elsewhere on Freeform as The Fosters (0.32) took a 26% dip in its second week back on the sked (though its newbie lead-out Recovery Road (0.18) actually inched up from last week's disastrous premiere). And Pretty Little Liars (0.63), just a few weeks removed from being up year-to-year for the premiere, has now shed about 40% of that audience and was down to a new low on this night.

• On Showtime, the new drama Billions (0.37) is looking increasingly legit with a second straight post-premiere rise, this one by a full tenth after 0.24 -> 0.27 in the first two weeks. It may have had a tough time sustaining the momentum last night since it aired against the Super Bowl, but it's a good sign for the future.
