Rating the Ratings: After a very healthy transition to Friday in season four, Hawaii Five-0 lost a little ground relative to the league average in season five. Part of this was its decreased lead-in, as The Amazing Race was a weaker player than previous occupant Undercover Boss, especially in the fall, and the show spiked back into the mid-1's when the Boss returned in January. But the overall lead-in decline year-to-year was pretty similar to what Five-0 itself did. (Remember that Five-0 aired after low-rated Unforgettable episodes in spring 2014.) In the end, it was part of a very crowded club of similar-strength dramas, but it survived to another year at 9/8c. Grade: B-.
