Rating the Ratings: It was a tale of two halves for The Good Wife in 2014-15. It shouldn't be ignored that the first half of the year went quite well by Good Wife standards, as the show was nearly even year-to-year with new lead-in Madam Secretary. Though Madam had significantly worse raw numbers than previous occupant The Amazing Race, it seemed to create a better flow for the night, keeping more of those NFL viewers who watch 60 Minutes around for the second half of primetime. But that pairing was not nearly as effective in the second half of the season; without a huge base of NFL viewers leading into primetime, the "flow" wasn't nearly as valuable, and it just became a very low-rated night, with TGW averaging only about a 1.0.

So just looking at year-to-year trends, this show had like a B+ fall and a D spring, which is kinda crazy. I hated to go lower than a C since it's the same slot and only down a touch in Plus, but the spring portion did feel more indicative of the "true" state of The Good Wife. The good news is that maybe it can hope for another big rebound when the NFL viewers come back in the fall. Grade: C.

Here's the now updated War of 18-49 post for The Good Wife.
