Spotted Ratings, Thursday 6/20/13

WHAT MATTERS:
  • The NBA Finals took over TV one last time with another 25% game-to-game bump for Game 7, and it posted the biggest viewership/demo for anything since the Academy Awards four months ago. Still, it did go 7% below the last Finals Game 7 in 2010 (an 11.4 for Celtics/Lakers).
  • This game went 55% ahead of last Thursday's Game 4. Most damaged by that additional competition were the CBS repeats, all down double digits from last week, and USA's combo of Burn Notice (0.9) and Graceland (0.7). And FX had an almost invisible two-episode return from comedy Wilfred (0.3/0.3). That was about even with the low-rated last couple episodes of last season, but it was down nearly half from last season's average and miles behind the Anger Management-inflated year-ago premiere (1.2).
  • A couple quick programming notes about Spotted Ratings' Week Off after the bump:
    • I'm out of town next week (6/23-6/30) so I'm taking the week off from daily posts. They'll be back the following week, with a post covering the last two weeks of each day of the week.
    • But I've been furiously working ahead, so most of the other regular programming will be on next week: War of 18-49, Top 10 of the Last 10, A18-49+ column. Plus there will be several The Questions as well as a few special posts looking back on some of my predictions from last season. So this will actually be one of the heavier content weeks of the summer.
    • Most of the above things will not appear the following week (7/1-7/7) as I catch up on everything missed while on vacay. There will likely be an A18-49+ column, though it may not be exactly on Monday 7/1. But the War and Top 10 are definitely sitting out that week.

Well, fortunately for you (and unfortunately for everyone else!), looks like there will end up being about as many Questions in all of July as there were this week alone. And probably even fewer in August, which has very few actual premieres!
