First Two Weeks, Arrow

WEEK ONE
The CW's Arrow had a strong premiere night, with over four million viewers, a 1.3 A18-49, and a 1.1 A18-34 rating. It skewed pretty old by the CW's standards, but it certainly proved that the network can bring a broader audience in to sample a new show. The 1.3 was about on par with CW drama premieres in the last few seasons, but considering it didn't have a huge lead-in and considering the CW entertainment average dropped 23% last season, 1.3 feels like a pretty big win.

WEEK TWO
If week one was promising, week two was very promising, as Arrow held its entire 1.3 A18-49 rating and only really only dropped among the older set (from 4.14 million viewers to 3.55 million).  That put it in a tie with The Vampire Diaries for the network's highest-rated show of the week in the demo, and it was the first time a second episode got that high on the CDub since The Vampire Diaries.

PROGNOSIS
Week two already bought the show a pickup for the full season. Promising week twos can be deceiving; the shows often end up settling lower even with full week two retention. But this show has miles and miles to drop before it's in any kind of trouble. If the CW as a network gets renewed for 2013-14, Arrow looks like a pretty sure bet to be part of it. Renew.

"First Two Weeks" is my look at... the first two weeks of a new scripted broadcast show's ratings. I also line up all of the premiere and week two drop numbers together.

I am so glad that Arrow got picked up for the full season this year! My coworkers at DISH can’t even wait to see the show, and they don’t even like comic books. I am recording every episode with my Hopper so that I can make sure I don’t miss anything. I really think that this can be a wonderful show, especially after seeing the ratings for it in the first couple of weeks. I really hope that it goes far, and I really want to see what happens next!
