Spotted Ratings, Wednesday 8/8/12: The #Goon Boon

WHAT MATTERS:
  • Unofficially, NBC's preview of Go On (5.6) after the Olympics was the first piece of programming for the 2012-13 season, though I don't think the commercial-free preview will count in any official averages or anything. As for the rating: 5.6 (retaining about 55%ish of the 10:30 Olympics audience) seems pretty decent, but I don't put a ton of stock in it either way.
  • Leading in was night 13 of the Summer Olympics, which had this Games' third-biggest nightly growth vs. Beijing (+12%) despite cutting out the usually high-rated 11:00 hour and having what I felt was a pretty unappealing menu sports-wise. I guess everybody showed up for the beach volleyball final?
  • The big story on cable was the season finale of Dallas (1.3), which had a huge spike from the typically sub-1 level at which it'd been mired for the last few weeks. So that's a very good way to end what was mostly a fairly disappointingly-rated season.
