Rating the Ratings: ABC's second go at a regular season run for Wipeout did not go nearly as well as the first. They again smartly premiered the show before American Idol showed up and again got good ratings (though still a far cry from last year's early weeks), and the show then got crushed again by American Idol, settling down at around a 1.5. The -19% number above is actually fairly deceptive because the season was not nearly as long this time, so the show didn't get to experience the post-daylight saving drops. Most individual data points were down well over 20% year-to-year. The good news is that ABC has given the show a much longer hiatus leading into the summer run this time. Can the show recover with a four-month hiatus leading in? We'll know in a week. Grade: D+.
