Spotted Ratings, Tuesday 5/8/12

WHAT MATTERS:

• NBC's two-hour finale of The Voice signed off on a strong note with its biggest numbers on any night since March (and easily its biggest on Tuesday this season). Airing for several weeks on the second night seemingly did a better job of conditioning the audience for the finale, as it was up year-to-year (from last summer's 3.7) even though the performance shows have been down toward the end of the season. An 8/7c tryout for Fashion Star put it a couple ticks below previous results.

• It was a good finale week for the struggling Tuesday sitcoms as New Girl got a big bounce and Last Man Standing signed off with its own double-digit gain. Rumors abound of a TBS landing spot for Cougar Town but it was also up a couple ticks in its last airing before the ABC upfront.

• The Voice had a mixed effect on the other 10/9c players. Private Practice totally crashed but Unforgettable was up in its probable series finale.
