Scheduling Five-Spot, WE 12/19/10 - Hellcats, Running Wilde, Perfect Couples, Stargate Universe, The Good Guys

Here's your Scheduling Five-Spot for the week ending December 19, 2010:

CW Midseason - There isn't a whole lot of change going on at the CDub in midseason, but they will be moving drama newbie Hellcats from Wednesday to Tuesday, where it'll most likely have a weaker lead-in in One Tree Hill, but at least it doesn't have to go up against two-hour Idols on Wednesday. Meanwhile, reality newbie Shedding for the Wedding becomes the latest in a very long line of reality newbies to inherit the post-Top Model slot. Pretty much all the others have failed.

Running Wilde Scheduling/Unscheduling - This story is notable more for its silliness than its actual newsworthiness, but Fox seems to be having a lot of trouble figuring out what to do with the last five episodes of Running Wilde. None were scheduled, then they were happily slated for the 19th, 26th, and 28th of December at one point, but four of those originals have since been yanked.  An original is still scheduled to burn off on Sunday the 26th at 9:30, but I'm not making any guarantees that holds up until it actually airs.

Perfect Couples Preview Tonight - The new NBC comedy will get a preview at 10:00 tonight (December 20) after what's likely to be a fairly high-rated finale for The Sing-Off. The official Thursday premiere is still a month away, but this is still probably a better chance for some exposure than it ever would've gotten if it'd just premiered in its regularly-scheduled timeslot, at 8:30 after Community.

Stargate Universe Cancelled - Just a couple months after lead-out Caprica got pulled from the schedule, now the latest installment of the Stargate franchise is going to end after two seasons. Its most recent Tuesday run pulled 0.4s and 0.5s in A18-49, about on par with fellow Syfy original Sanctuary but well behind the numbers for the net's scripted flagships, Eureka and Warehouse 13. Those numbers are also way down from the ~0.8 the show often pulled in its first few weeks about a year ago.

No More The Good Guys - Not even remotely a surprise here, but the cost-controlled Fox summer drama which got an extended regular season run on Fridays will not make it into a second season. It was a failure even when it aired in the summer out of Lie to Me, but the Friday night "death slot" took its numbers to an even more anemic level, as it has with so many other shows. Now, Fox looks to get a little something going on the night with Fringe, which moves into the vacated Good Guys slot in January.

More Five-Spots in the Index.
